Mock Final

1) St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma.

Gil Brandt was quoted saying Bradford's pro day was the best he's seen in 20 years since Troy Aikman. The Rams start rebuilding with their franchise QB.

2) Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska

Although left tackle grades out as a more important need position than DT, the Lions selectSuh, the highest rated player on their board to help improve one of the worst defenses in the NFL last year.

3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma

The Bucs select McCoy who is a perfect fit for their defensive line as their 3 technique DT.

4) Washington Redskins: Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma St.

They select Okung as an immediate starter at LT to help infuse life and talent into their old and depleted O-line.

5) Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry, S, Tennesse

Although left tackle is a need, its hard to argue with taking one of the top 3 rated prospects in the entire draft when your defense needs help everywhere. The Chiefs lock up their starting safety for the next 8 years.

6) Seattle Seahawks: Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma.

Pete Carroll has the luxury of having two first round picks and must take a tackle with the 6th pick as five O-lineman could be off the board by their next pick. Tackle is too valuable of a need to wait on. CJ Spiller sure is tempting though.

7) Cleveland Browns: Jimmy Claussen, QB, Note Dame.

Mike Holmgren didn't come out of retirement to help the Browns rebuilding project to start an older quarterback who has 325 turnovers in the last two seasons. Claussen has a strong desire to succeed and is very accurate. I think Holmgren tipped his hat with one of the worst smoke screens in NFL history, "I wish I liked him more."

8) Oakland Raiders: Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa.

The run on tackles is on. The Raiders seem to like offensive lineman from Iowa with short arms. Hopefully this one works out better than the last.

9) Buffalo Bills: Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers.

The Bills need 5 new offensive linemen and better take one with this pick if they want any chance to avoid picking number one next year. A starting left tackle with this pick followed up by Colt McCoy sounds like a good draft to me.

10) Jacksonville Jaguars: Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama

The Jags signed Aaron Kampman this offseason and drafted Derrick Harvery and Quentin Groves two years ago to help with the pass rush. I think the two best players on the board not on the offensive line are Rolando McClain and CJ Spiller. With MJD in his prime the Jags go for the best defensive player.

11) Denver Broncos: Dan Williams, DT, Tenessee

I don't think Denver risks taking Dez Bryant this high after trading Brandon Marshall. The Broncos will have an opportunity to select a playmaker or two in the second round. Williams will split time his first year with Jamal Williams, the 13 year vet who was signed in the offseason.

12) Miami Dolphins: Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas

The Dolphins need to replace two starting OLB spots and the nose tackle position. Pass rushers will always trump the big guys in the middle. This is a deep DT draft and that need can be addressed with a later pick.

13) San Francisco 49ers: CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson.

The 49ers need to improve their secondary and offensive line but can't pass on the best RB in the draft with blazing speed. If they don't take him, Seattle will with the next pick and they will have to play him twice a year for the next 8 years. Gore and Spiller give Mike Singletary the 1-2 punch he has been wanting to slow down the game and take pressure off Alex Smith.

14) Seattle Seahawks: Taylor Mays, S, USC

The Seahawks wanted Spiller, but with him off the board they take Mays, the most athletically gifted player in the draft, who already knows Carroll's defense. Pass rusher is a possibility too, but I have a hunch Pete sticks with his guy.

15) N.Y. Giants: Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri

The Giants most pressing needs are LB and DT. With McClain and Williams off the board the Giants take Weatherspoon. Jerry Reese has a strong will and will take the highest rated player on his draft board. Lets see if he goes outside of the need pick and takes Joe Haden or Mike Iupati.

16) San Francisco 49ers: Mike Iupati, G, Idaho

The Niners get their starting RT to solidify their O-line. Spiller and Iupati will give the Niners a fearful running game for years to come. They can find a good CB in round two.

17) Tennessee Titans: Jason Pierre Pual, DE, South Florida

The Titans need to replace KVB and Albert Haynesworth to sure up the defense. Pierre Paul is a project but has unbelievable talent. The Titans take a huge DT in round 2, or trade to get Albert Haynesworth back.

18) Pittsburgh Steelers: Joe Haden, CB, Florida

With Santonio Holmes being traded, Pitt might go WR here, but I think CB is too valuable a need and if the top one is available at 18 you have to pull the trigger.

19) Atlanta Falcons: Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech.

The Falcons need to improve their pass rush and LB core. Morgan is the most polished 4-3 pass rushing DE in the draft.

20) Houston Texans: Earl Thomas, S, Texas.

Thomas is a ball hawk with great range. He rates out higher than any of the CB prospects at this spot. RB can be filled in rounds 2 or 3.

21) Cincinnati Bengals: Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma St.

I personally think that Dez Bryant has been unfairly labeled as a problem. Immature is more appropriate in my opinion. The Bengals have a history of not shying away from players with elite talent with some personal question marks. Great value at 21.

22) New England Patriots: Brandon Grahm, DE/OLB, Michigan

The Patriots need to improve their defensive line and LB play, and are lacking playmakers at the WR and RB positions. They have 3 second round picks to address these issues.

23) Green Bay Packers: Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise St.

Charles Woodsen had a wonderful season but is in his 13th season. Al Harris is showing signs of age. The Packers need to upgrade at RB, CB, and Oline. Maurkice Pouncey or Jahvid Best could go here.

24) Philadelphia Eagles: Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama

The Eagles need to replace Sheldon Brown and land Jackson who is great in run support and bump and run coverage.

25) Baltimore Ravens: Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma

Todd Heap is aging quickly and has suffered too many injuries. Gresham gives Joe Flacco another new weapon in the middle of the field.

26) Arizona Cardinals: Jerry Hughes, DE/OLB, TCU

The Cardinals like athletic pass rushing linebackers. They could also go with UCLA DT Brian Price.

27) Dallas Cowboys: Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland

The Cowboys want add depth and youth to their O-line and need a safety. Campbell is raw but very athletic. With the release of Flozell Adams, Campbell adds insurance and will have time to develop.

28) San Diego Chargers: Terrance Cody, DT, Alabama

RB can be filled later in the draft. Cody won't make it back to the Chargers in the second round and NT is too valuable a position in their defense. With Jamal Williams gone, Cody is a good need pick.

29) New York Jets: Jahvid Best, RB, Cal

With Holmes being acquired through a trade, this is a luxury pick for the Jets. Best has 4.3 speed and compliments Shone Greene well. I think LT is stuck with goal line duty.

30) Minnesota Vikings: Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State

With Cedric Griffen's torn ACL in the NFC Championship game, the Vikings need to add a CB to start in September.

31) Indianapolis Colts: Maurkice Pouncey, G/C, Florida.

The Colts need to upgrade their O-line to get more out of their running game next year.

32) New Orleans Saints: Brian Price, DT, UCLA

The Saints add a disruptive DT, who had 23.5 TFL this past season as a junior.

Mock Draft 2.0

1) St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma.

The Rams take Bradford, who would have been last years number one pick if he came out in 2009. If he stays healthy they lock up a franchise QB for years to come.

2) Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska

The lions showed in last years draft they value the top rated players on their board. They get arguably the best talent in the draft in Suh and bolster a new D-line now featuring KVB and Corey Williams. The lions need to address the Oline in round 2.

3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma

McCoy will be a great addition to the Bucs D-line which is an area of need.

4) Washington Redskins: Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma St.

The Redskins are an aging team with needs at both QB and O-line. Clausen and Okung are the two obvious choices for Mike Shanahan's rebuilding project. I have a gut feeling Shanahan and Dan Snyder would love a guy like Tim Tebow under center and will take him in round 2. Okung is an immediate starter at left tackle.

5) Kansas City Chiefs: Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa

Scott Pioli will follow the Patriot model and build from the trenches up. The chiefs need to protect their hefty QB investment from last year.

6) Seattle Seahawks: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame.

New coach Pete Carroll will start his rebuilding project with Claussen, a player he is familiar with. The remaining OT prospects are rated out better for their second pick at 14.

7) Cleveland Browns: Eric Berry, S, Tenessee.

The Browns get one of the top rated players in the draft to help their secondary.

8) Oakland Raiders: Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech.

The Raiders need help in many areas but go with the best pass rushing prospect.

9) Buffalo Bills: Trent Williams, OT, Oklamoma.

The Bills start their revamping of a depleted O-line.

10) Jacksonville Jaguars: Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma St.

The Jags have been searching for a number one WR for years. They get a big, athletic play maker in Bryant.

11) Denver Broncos: Rolando McClain, LB Alabama.

The Broncos add McClain to help DJ Williams.

12) Miami Dolphins: CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson.

With Ronnie Brown coming off a serious foot injury and Ricky Williams getting older and discussing retirement, the Dolphins add the most explosive RB in the draft.

13) San Francisco 49ers: Joe Haden, CB, Florida.

The 49ers need to improve their secondary and add the best corner in the draft.

14) Seattle Seahawks: Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers.

The niners sure up their OL woes with this solid pick. Pete Carroll is pleased to get a franchise QB and a starting offensive tackle in the first round of his first draft.

15) N.Y. Giants: Brian Price, DT, UCLA.

The Giants didn't get a lot out of their free agent DT acquisitions last year. Their two biggest needs are LB and DT. Price is too good not to take. He is very disruptive and had 23.5 TFL last year as a junior.

16) San Francisco 49ers: Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland.

Great combine, but needs a little work on technique. Should make the niners stronger at the point of attack.

17) Tennessee Titans: Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee.

The Titans plug up the middle of the D-line, a glaring hole last season.

18) Pittsburgh Steelers: Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State.

Did the Steelers really lose to the Raiders in the 4th quarter in Pitt? I predict a defensive draft to plug up all positions of weakness.

19) Atlanta Falcons: Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri.

Falcons address their OLB weakness.

20) Houston Texans: Taylor Mays, S, Southern California.

Athletic freak. Needs to work on coverage.

21) Cincinnati Bengals: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida.

Very athletic, but a bit of a one year wonder. Should help the Bengals get pressure on the QB.

22) New England Patriots: Brandon Grahm, DE, Michigan.

The Pats need to update their DE's and Lb's.

23) Green Bay Packers: Charles Brown, OT, USC.

Big OT to help fend off Jared Allen for years to come.

24) Philadelphia Eagles: Earl Thomas, S, Texas.

Brian Dawkins replacement.

25) Baltimore Ravens: Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame.

Tate is a bit small, but knows how to play football and make big plays in traffic. A very athletic and talented WR to help out Joe Flacco. Reminds me of the Panthers Steve Smith. Boldin and Tate would make up quite a duo. I don't think Donte Stallworth plays much more than a 3rd or 4th wr role.

26) Arizona Cardinals: Terrance Cody, NT, Alabama.

Monster NT to anchor the run defense on first and second down.

27) Dallas Cowboys: Mike Iupati, OG/T, Idaho.

The cowboys add depth to their O-line.

28) San Diego Chargers: Jahvid Best, RB, California.

The LT era is officially over in San Diego. The Chargers go with Best and Sproles to compliment their great passing attack.

29) New York Jets: Damien Williams, WR, USC.

Sanchez to Williams worked well in college. Cotchery, Braylon, and Williams is a nice group of WR's for a young Qb with a great running game.

30) Minnesota Vikings: Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State.

Cedrick Griffin's torn ACL in the NFC Championship means the Vikings need some help at CB to start the season.

31) Indianapolis Colts: Maurkice Pouncey, G/C, Florida.

The colts update their O-line.

32) New Orleans Saints: Everson Griffen, DE, USC.

Replaces Charles Grant.

Mock Draft 2.0

I'm waiting on the pro days for Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen, and Tim Tebow before I make my final update on mock draft 2.0. With the free agent frenzy over and a couple of notable trades, the first round mock draft will change some from my previous post. Taylor Mays jumped way up based on his combine results. The Boldin and Cromartie trades will definitely change my Ravens and Jets picks. Bradford has the early lead for the Rams at number one overall, but a shaky medical check up will drop him to Washington, Seattle, or Buffalo. I wouldn't be suprised to see Tim Tebow make a late first early second appearance based on his great combine.

2010 NFL Mock Draft

1) St. Louis Rams: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame.

The rams need help everywhere. If you watch the NFL on even an inconsistent basis, it should still be obvious that a franchise QB is common amongst the elite teams. Manning, Brees, Brady, Favre, Rivers, McNabb, Rogers, Eli, and big Ben have helped their teams to be consistent winners in this league. Clausen is big, has a strong arm, is accurate, and played under Charlie Weiss at Notre Dame in a NFL pro style offensive system. The Rams will be tempted to take the highly talented DT from Nebraska Ndamukong Suh, but should reference history to recall the Glen Dorsey versus Matt Ryan debate of 2008. You must rebuild starting with a QB! It is also important to note that I don't believe Clausen can run a 4.2 40 yard dash or throw the ball 80 yards from his knees which should bode well for real success in this league.

2) Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska

Suh was the most dominant collegiate defensive player this year and was a legitimate Heisman candidate. The lions have to make a choice between trying to protect Matt Stafford, their number one draft choice from last year, or trying to improve upon a defense that gave up 30 points a game. If they go left tackle to protect Stafford, they will choose Russell Okung. If defense is their priority then its Suh.

3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma

Quick, name one starting defensive lineman for the Bucs...I can only think of Stylz White just because his name change was more bizarre than Ochocinco, not because of his play. The Bucs need to upgrade their entire line. McCoy is close to Suh, and even rated higher on some draft boards, and is a good pick for the young Bucs.

4) Washington Redskins: Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma St. The Redskins need a franchise Qb and new regimes usually result in new QB's. I just don't see Mike Shanahan taking Sam Bradford, coming from a spread offense and having had surgery on his throwing shoulder which ended his season. The Redskins cannot take such a risk with this pick. I think they will take Russell Okung to improve their battered and old offensive line. Look what Joe Thomas and Jake long have done for Cleveland and Miami in each of their rookie years. Okung will make this team better and is a safer pick.

5) Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry, S, Tennessee. The chiefs were awful last season. They need help everywhere. Big money was spent on their franchise QB Matt Cassell last year only for him to get destroyed on a weekly basis because of their poor offensive line play. Eric Berry is the best player on the board and possibly the second best player in this draft. The Chiefs go with talent over need.

6) Seattle Seahawks: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma. The Seahawks need to upgrade their OL, QB, RB, WR, and DEF. New coach Pete Carroll will start his rebuilding project with Sam Bradford. Carroll can keep Matt Hasselbeck for one last season while Bradford can learn from the veteran and make sure his shoulder is strong.

7) Cleveland Browns: CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson. The Browns have an adequate offensive line and nothing takes pressure off your defense or your QB like a solid run game. Spiller is a game changer that will make an impact immediately. The Browns secondary is a mess so they will take a close look at CB Joe Haden as well.

8) Oakland Raiders: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida. The most dynamic pass rusher in the draft. I would trade down to get more draft picks and go with UCLA DT Brian Price. The Raiders have been bad against the run for years. They need to upgrade their interior D-line. Price had 23.5 TFL this year and is the third best DT in the draft.

9) Buffalo Bills: Trent Williams, OT, Oklamoma. I don't care who the Buffalo QB is, if you only have 2.5 seconds to throw the ball, nobody will succeed in that position. Upgrade your entire line with this draft Buffalo!

10) Jacksonville Jaguars: Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech. The Jags still take Tebow in round 2 or 3, but wisely use their first rounder on Morgan, a talented pass rusher who should help them improve on the 14 sacks the Jags had as a team last year.

11) Denver Broncos: Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma St. I think Brandon Marshall will be shipped out of Denver before this year's draft, probably to the Ravens. Eddie Royal and Dez Bryant will give coach Josh McDaniels some valuable weapons for the offense.

12) Miami Dolphins: Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas. With changes looming at the LB position for Porter and Taylor, Bill Parcells goes after a young, athletic LB with good pass rushing skills.

16) San Francisco 49ers: Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida. The 49ers have been struggling to get pressure on their opponents QB's. They need more pressure form the front seven. Manny Lawson's development time is running out.

17) Tennessee Titans: Rolando McClain, LB Alabama. An eventual or immediate replacement for long time defensive captain, and injured LB Keith Bullock. The Titans defense dropped off dramatically after the loss of all pro DT Albert Haynesworth. They need a disruptive space eater for the middle of their line but choose to address that with their next pick.

18) Pittsburgh Steelers: Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State. Did the Steelers really lose to the Raiders in the 4th quarter in Pitt? I predict a defensive draft to plug up all positions of weakness.

19) Atlanta Falcons: Terrance Cody, DT, Alabama. Beef up the interior line then draft LB help in round 2.

20) Houston Texans: Earl Thomas, S, Texas. Thomas is a ball hawk with great range who will help to tighten up the back end of an up and coming defense.

21) Cincinnati Bengals: Damian Williams, WR, USC. The Bengals were too one dimensional with their offense at the end of last season. They need WR help to fill the void left by the death of Chris Henry (RIP), and the free agent departure of Housh last year. Williams is a playmaker with good hands who is more quick than fast.

22) New England Patriots: Navorro Bowman, LB, Penn State. The Pats need some serious DL, CB, and LB help. Bowman is an athletic playmaker who should fit in well to the depleted Patriot LB corps.

23) Green Bay Packers: Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa. Jared Allen's performance against the Packers weak OL last year is still haunting Rogers. This is a great value and need pick.

24) Philadelphia Eagles: Everson Griffen, DE, Southern California. The Eagles D dictates the tempo against its opponents with pressure. Griffen adds a needed pass rushing DE to the line opposite Trent Cole.

25) Baltimore Ravens: Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame. Tate is a bit small, but knows how to play football and make big plays in traffic. A very athletic and talented WR to help out Joe Flacco. Reminds me of the Panthers Steve Smith.

26) Arizona Cardinals: Taylor Mays, S, Southern California. With Antrelle Rolle likely to enter the free agent market, the Cards take the athletic Mays.

27) Dallas Cowboys: Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee. The cowboys add in a massive DT to the D line rotation.

28) San Diego Chargers: Jahvid Best, RB, California. The LT era is officially over in San Diego. The Chargers go with Best and Sproles to compliment their great passing attack.

29) New York Jets: Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State. Just needs to zone up the waters surrounding Revis Island.

30) Minnesota Vikings: Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers. Cedrick Griffin's torn ACL in the NFC Championship means the Vikings need some help at CB to start the season.

31) Indianapolis Colts: Mike Iupati, OG/T, Idaho. The Colts spent most of 2009 patching up their OL due to injuries. Iupati can start immediately at guard and possibly move into one of the tackle positions in the future.

32) New Orleans Saints: Jerry Hughes, DE/OLB, TCU. The Saints add an athletic pass rusher to their LB corps who can help out as a DE and third down.
